Description:

NOTE: This mod is incompatible with all versions of the game post-DLC 2, and, due to unfixable problems with the way mods are created in this game – and despite the fact that I shouldn’t actually need to update the files for this mod – I cannot continue to maintain this mod. I am very sorry to say this mod, and its planned Canadian and British expansions, will be permanently discontinued. A huge thank you to everyone who enjoyed this mod, and who may even continue to enjoy it in the future by using older versions of Steel Division.

Due to this, I have decided to release the source texture files to this mod and the mostly finished Canadian Texture Overhaul so that others may use them in their mods, PROVIDED THAT YOU ASK FOR PERMISSION FIRST AND GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE!

—————————————————————————

A comprehensive, historical overhaul of the textures for all German infantry. Includes regular Wehrmacht troops, Luftwaffe infantry, and the Waffen-SS, as well as vehicle crews and tank commanders.

Yes, I know these units typically aren’t really visible during normal gameplay due to the distant zoom, but I felt it was important nonetheless to bring things a bit closer to reality and fix the units that are the biggest eyesores – I’m looking at you, Panzergrenadiers.

WEHRMACHT
———————
Grenadiers and Pioneers have been changed the least for the most part, as the regular green uniform looks really good by default. The most obvious change is a redesign of all Grenadier helmets, making them more grayish than green and adding the historical shield decals to either side. The ugly yellow desert-ish netted helmets have been made gray, but had the nets retained. The camo on the pants of some troops was replaced with the historical swamp pattern. In the future, a camo poncho may be added to the machine gunner as well.

LUFTWAFFE
———————
Fallschirmjaegers and regular Jaegers were heavily redone. Their uniforms under the ponchos are blue, and the colour of the officer’s shirts has been standardized. Their helmets have been made blue and had the LW symbol removed from one side. Of course, the most obvious change is the camo ponchos they wear – the bland yellow colour (more accurate to the paratroopers fighting in Italy) has been replaced with tricolour splitter camo, with a solid green variant included here and there.

WAFFEN-SS
———————
Finally, Panzergrenadiers and Stormtroopers have had more variety added in. The Panzergrenadiers in particular were modified as I was really unhappy with the default troops (which, really, look more Japanese than German!). I’ve replaced the weird yellow camo with the infamous orange autumn peadot camo and given them new helmets and pants. Other troops also have this pattern applied, as well as a second green peadot camo. The ponchos have been modified likewise as well. In addition, their helmets bear historically accurate Waffen-SS decals.

OTHER
———————
Tank commanders visible from the turret of some tanks (Panzer IV H most obvious) have had their clothes recoloured from green to black. This also applies to Knispel. In the future, I would also like to make an update to the weapons, though mostly just a minor colour enhancement.

This mod should be compatible with multiplayer as well as other mods – I’m currently using it with the the mods listed below without a hitch! Please enjoy!
