Kill Item Limited (Patch) for Execute Enemy
This is a patch for Execute Enemy, a mod by Shidan. This patch does not add any new content. Rather, it changes Execute Enemy so that it affects less characters.
There are at least 3 different mods for Kenshi that add items to characters that kill them when removed. But while I liked the way Execute Enemy uses death items that vanish into thin air when removed, I dislike how it adds death items to every single character, even the start characters, traders and NPCs that never appear in-game. And I really dislike these being added to slaves.
In contrast, the Finisher Feature Mod does not add death items to every single character. So it is more fitting to my play style. However, I did not like the whole Skull thing, how it clogs up inventory with 2×2 Skulls, how the Skulls are illegal goods, etc, even if they can be sold for cats.
So, I made this patch for Execute Enemy that removes death items from various characters. I tried to make the list of characters with death items somewhat similar to the list for the Finisher Feature Mod. Even so, I’ve left them on numerous NPCs that do not have them in the Finisher Feature Mod. And there are a few NPCs that have them in Finisher Feature Mod, but which I removed them from in this patch. I don’t like having death items on my own team or potential recruits, even if there is a way to safely remove them. And I think the lack of a death item on unconscious characters is a nice clue that they could be useful to the player if left alone or kept alive.
The ones I have removed death items from include:
- Slaves
- Start characters
- Random recruits
- Unique recruits
- Traders and vendors of all sorts, including bartenders
- Plastic Surgeons
- Fences
- Pacifiers
- Error Code 0xFFFFFF (because they become allies)
- King Gurgler (because it already had a different death item)
- Some stuff like CHARACTER, Test and Test player
Simply place this mod ("Kill Item Limited") below "Kill Item" (aka, Execute Enemy) in your mod load order. I’m not sure whether or not this requires import.
