Knights of the Drowned
NOTICE: Even though this mod may be displayed as outdated, it still works with the most recent version of the game! In addition, if the game doesn’t load mods when launched using any version of CA’s launcher, then you can download Kaedrin’s Mod Manager here and launch your modded game through that. You’ll thank me later.
After a long hiatus, I’m now back with a new mod! This mod adds recruitable versions of Cylostra Direfin’s ghostly knights to the Drowned’s unit roster in a reasonably lore-friendly way for both the campaign and Custom Battles, giving her faction a bit more of an undead Bretonnian prescence. It is balanced for vanilla and may not be consistent with overhaul mods.
FEATURES:
In either campaign, all Damned Knights can be recruited from a new unique building chain that is exclusive to Cylostra’s ship. They also have very limited recruitment, with the Damned Knights Errant having a starting unit cap of 2 and both the Damned Knights of the Realm and Questing Knights initially being capped to 1 each. After all, there were only so many knights who had served on board the Lamprey before they drowned and were subsequently cursed with undeath!
In addition, Cylostra’s Slaughter in the Deep skill can now improve the melee capabilities of any recruited knights in her army to be somewhat on par with their summoned counterparts, while further development of her Ghosts of the Past skill tree can increase their unit cap. Also, the Damned Paladin that Cylostra starts off with now has a new unique skill he can (supposedly) learn at rank 8 called Vow of the Damned, which greatly improves the leadership of any Damned Knight units that he is in the same army with, including himself, and will also drastically reduce their upkeep. The Vow of the Damned skill is currently bugged. See the Bugs & Issues section below.
DIFFERENCES TO THE SUMMONABLE VERSIONS:
– The summoned knights can have a larger unit size than their recruitable counterparts once Cylostra’s Ghosts of the Past skill tree has developed sufficiently.
– The recruitable knights do not have constant unbinding.
COMPATIBILITY:
As this mod doesn’t directly change anything other than a few effect descriptions, it should be compatible with a wide range of other mods. In addition, any mod that would reskin Cylostra’s summoned knights, such as Dryrain’s mod as seen on the in-battle screenshots, will also affect the recruitable ones from this mod since they share the same variant models. If no reskin mods are used, the knights will revert to their vanilla appearance.
TO DO:
– If the Vow of the Damned skill is too weak or powerful, I may change either the effects or the skill’s rank requirement based on user feedback. We’ll see.
BUGS & ISSUES:
– The rank restriction currently isn’t properly applied to the Vow of the Damned skill, meaning that the Damned Paladin can learn it before rank 8. I have no idea why this happens.
– If there are any more bugs and issues, then please let me know so that I may fix them.
