Description:

Special thanks goes to Nebulox for letting me use his Failnaught bow’s primary and secondary attacks for the scepter weapon in my mod! Nebulox’s Failnaught bow comes from the Rin Relics mod. Link to the mod in the discussion link below. I made a few tweaks to my weapon which will be mentioned below.

Also thanks to ProblemVacancy for letting me use his purple Glitch ship as Ripto’s ship, it was perfect. 🙂 Link to the mod is found in the discussion link below.

Oh my gosh! It’s Ripto from Spyro: Reignited Trilogy (and the classic Spyro: Ripto’s Rage) and he’s here to conquer the universe!
Such an unlikely mod comes to Starbound, but I thought it would be fun to do so I did it. XD This is a race mod, meaning you can select Ripto as a playable character! (for those fans that have always wanted to play as Ripto) I have also added a hostile version of him and a non hostile version that functions as a guard. They both use an NPC version of the Ripto’s Scepter weapon, the only difference it has from the standard weapon is that it’s more affected by gravity to correct an issue with the NPCs aiming too high and missing the target. You can aquire both the standard and NPC version of the weapons through crafting or through it dropping from the NPCs occasionally when they are killed. You also start off with the standard weapon. Other tweaks I made to the weapons to differ it slightly to Nebulox’s Failnaught bow is I made the projectiles unaffected by liquids, and I changed the sound effects. This makes the weapons behave more like customized staves, even though they use a bow’s behavior.

Players cannot start with head items so unfortunately, Ripto will not have his cape collar, but once you get to the ship, the collar is in the locker with other clothing items, the weapon, and spell armor. (which is invisible) I gave custom scan descriptions as well. All dialog between a player Ripto and NPCs is the generic dialog, and NPC Riptos will speak to a player and other NPCs with the same lines regardless of race. (even dragon race mods, but Ripto hates them regardless) NPCs are not encountered through normal gameplay. (as it would be weird to encounter Riptos everywhere, especially when playing as Ripto) If you want to spawn in NPCs and items, refer to this discussion here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/discussions/2118315215

Also, Ripto’s body sprite is a pixel shorter than standard humanoids, though his head height offsets it to make him appear the same size. I did it this way to get his head a little bigger and because if I made him too much shorter, that would sacrifice sprite quality. Because of his slight sprite changes, vanilla clothing won’t fit him too good, and his clothes won’t look right on other races, unless of course someone wanted to make more clothes just for Ripto (if anyone wanted to help me with that, I’m not good at designing clothes from scratch) or make a version of Ripto’s clothes that fit other races. Also, naturally, the "female" sprites are also male and use the same SFX, Ripto is a male and this ‘race mod’ was made with Ripto in mind, rather than his whole species. If anyone has questions or spots other issues, let me know!
