Description:

This is a continuation of the Misc Robots++ mod. Please note that while the robots are all the same the recipes and research to obtain them are different. The robots no longer require job specific research, each tier unlocks with the associated matrix tier. Also note, the Omni bot is now gone. Aside from the omni bot being gone the mod is backward compatible with Misc Robots++. Please not that if you receive errors on loading your save they will most likely be related to the missing research projects and missing omni bot. Any bots you have already built will still exist if you migrate to this version, minus the omni bot.

This fork of Robots++ is my personal take on what I feel reflects better balanced electronics production. As an example, it no longer takes enough steel and plasteel to build a fortification just to make a single tier 2 robot. By most accounts this fork is cheaper to build robots in terms of resources and research, the reason for this is that I like to play long games from tribal to spacer and having a research project of 30,000 points just to unlock top tier robots is rediculously tedious and doesn’t improve gameplay at all, in my opinion. Anyway I’m dead tired so have fun, report bugs as you find them (though I did test fairly thoroughly) and I’ll be updating this as time permits with any updates neccesary.

Addendum:
Because I know it’ll get asked, yes sometimes bots sit on their bases and don’t move, this is a performance feature of the base mod Misc Robots. They do this so you don’t have a dozen loose AI running around your base eating up CPU cycles and causing lag. However they only sit on their base when they run out of jobs to do, then a timer goes for a bit, then they recheck for work to do and if they find something they do it. Hopefully this clears up the confusion. Have fun!

*** Example Load Order ***

– Misc. Robots Extended

Misc Robots Extended Contains The Following Bots:
— Cleaner Bot
A robot that will clean up after the party.

— Hauler Bot
A robot that won’t take forever to bring in the crops.

— Kitchen Bot
A robot that knows hot to talk to plants and cook meals.

— Crafter Bot
A robot that can handle any crafting task.

— Builder Bot
A robot that builds (oh it also mines).

— ER Bot
An Emergency robot that treats patients, does surgery and fights fires.

There are five tiers of robots:
Tier 1 Simple robots have skills at level (4),
Tier 2 Basic robots have skills at level (8),
Tier 3 Intermediate robots have skills at level (12),
Tier 4 Advanced robots have skills at level (16),
Tier 5 Master robots have maxed skills (20).

Compatibility

Mods which change how the game decides who does a surgery. If you have one such mod the ER robots will refuse to do surgery. Aside from that the mod will work perfectly fine and they will still tend to patients and fight fires.

Mods which add entirely new worktypes. These mods will most likely not work with robots without a patch. If you find such a mod please let me know and I will try to patch for it.

Translations are not included at this time. If you would like to translate for MRE, please contact me and I’ll get a template prepared as soon as possible. When you’ve finished, message me with a link to the translation and I’ll include it in the mod.

Credit

Misc. Robots Extended was made using the "Misc. Robots++" mod as a base. Thanks to Haplo for the fantastic framework and Alaestor for the work that went into Misc Robots++ !

Legal

This mod was derived from Misc. Robots++, which in turn is derivitive of Misc. Robots. These mods and this mod are licensed under Creative Commons License Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. For more information see https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/.

Performance

There are some performance issues with having lots of robots active at one time. This is, as far as I am aware, due to them looking for jobs. If you run into performance issues try disabling some robots until it clears up. Personally I have had up to 20-25 robots running at once and had no performance issues, this is on a pretty beefy pc though so your mileage may vary.
