Now Available in English and German!

Credit to qweytr for making Extended Timeline!

Ver. 1.51

  • Complete Colonial Control, completely compatible with Extended Timeline!
  • New functionality in colonial regions, allowing the player to choose between Crown Colonies, Colonial Nations, and Trade Companies in every colonial and trade company region in the game!
  • A total of 76 coloniazable regions, covering the entire world, each fully compatible with the new selection system.
  • Removal of the old colonial system. Colonial decisions for the region are made upon gaining the first core in that region.
  • AI integration, the AI will also choose what they want in each region. Bordergore ahoy!

Q:

Is it ironman compatible?

A: Please, please, learn to read. No.

Q:

Where are the colonial regions!?!? The mapmode shows nothing!

A: The colonial regions mapmode is, unfortunately, not useful with this mod. Use the "Trade Company Regions" mapmode instead. Each trade company region is identical to the region for your Colonial Nations. The "Regions" mapmode also now lists colonial regions.

Q:

Why is my colonial nation not forming?

A: The colonial nation event chain takes some time to complete. Give it a month or two.

Q:

How does the AI choose whether to retain control of a region or to make a colonial nation?

A: It’s currently set to a 70/30 weight in favor of colonial nations where there used tobe colonial regions in vanilla, and 70/30 weight in favor of trade companies where there were only trade company regions in vanilla.

Q:

What are these random "CN" provinces?

A: They are the dummy provinces use in the creation of the colonial nations. They do not exist on the map, and if you find yourself in possession of one, something has gone horribly wrong. Post a bug report.

Q:

What is a "Crown Colony"?

A: It’s when you own overseas territory directly, but have not put it into a trade company, just as they are in vanilla.

Q:

What about the Treaty of the Tortillas? I get popups but it does nothing.

A: The Treaty of Tordesillas features introduced in El Dorado are unfortunately not compatible with this mod. I have ideas on that and will likely be re-introducing the feature if I can make it work again.

  • Colonial Nations lose the solid-color halves of their flags, giving them the same flag as their overlord. This is a bug with colonial nations losing all of their territory in their original colonial region. Blame Paradox, not me.
  • If your colonial nation in a region is conquered completely, you cannot make another one. Working on this.
  • "My colonial nations in Asia can’t attack anyone." They can, just only other colonial nations. Blame Paradox, Colonial Nations can only attack primitives and other Colonial Nations.
  • "The names/colors/regions are ugly." Working on it.
  • Treaty of Tordesillas gives you claims on all sorts of things. Working on it.
  • Conuistadors cannot search for the 7 Cities of Gold. I don’t think make this work but I can try enabling the events for certain conditions.

This mod is highly likely to work with mods that do not: change colonial or trade company regions, or change the province count. All others are likely to work.

If you have no modding knowledge but want to know if my mod is compatible with your favorites, just try running them together. It will not conflict with graphical mods in any way.

If you wish to include this mod or the methods used to create colonial nations and trade companies in the same region in your mod, you are free to, if you give appropriate credit.
