[BETA] Parkitect Multiplayer Mod V0.3
Parkitect Multiplayer is a free mod for Parkitect. The goal of the mod is to enable players to play the game together.
This mod is still in beta, so you may experience some flaws and bugs.
If you would like to support the development of this mod, please visit the mod’s Patreon page[www.patreon.com].
The current goal of the development of this mod is to make sure everything is synchronized between the server and client(s), although this probably will never happen unless Texel Raptor makes some changes to Parkitect’s source code. After this goal is reached, other functionalities will be worked on, such as a chat, and other things that will improve the multiplayer experience.
You can visit the mod’s Trello board[trello.com] to view the current progress of the mod.
Hosting a server
To host a server using the Parkitect Multiplayer mod, you will have to follow the following steps:
- Find out what your local IP address is by opening command prompt and typing in the command ipconfig. You can open command prompt either by searching for it or pressing windows key + R and open cmd. After running the ipconfig command, you will need to find your IPv4 address. You are going to need this address later on in this guide.
- Find out what your external IP address is. Players joining your server need this address to join your server. You can find your external IP address by going to sites like whatsmyip.com.
- You will need to port forward the port you are going to use for the Parkitect Multiplayer server. You can find multiple port forwarding guides online (this one for example). The default port for the Parkitect Multiplayer mod is 16231, but you can set this number to any number you would like (port numbers range from 0 to 65535). Parkitect Multiplayer uses the TCP protocol for communication between server and client(s).
- Start a new park, or load a save game in Parkitect. If the mod is loaded correctly, a button will show up on the left side-menu. Click on the button, and fill in your local IP address in the IP address input field. This IP address should already be filled in by default. If you have filled in another port than the default port while port forwarding, fill in that port in the port input field. Press ‘Start Server’. Your server should now be running. If your server is failing to run, please follow the guide again and make sure Parkitect is not blocked by your firewall.
- Give your external IP address and the port that the server is running on to players that want to play with you.
Joining a server
To join a server using the Parkitect Multiplayer mod, you will have to follow the following steps:
- Start a new park in Parkitect. If the mod is loaded correctly, a button will show up on the left side-menu. Click on the button, and fill in the IP address and port that the player running the server gave you.
- Press "Join Server". You should now be joining the server, and loading the server’s park.
If you are experiencing bugs, or have problems setting up a server, you can create a new discussion on this workshop page. You could also contact us at [email protected].
The mod supports custom assets, as long as all players playing in one server have installed/subscribed to the exact same assets. Mods that do not have anything to do with synchronization between server and client (mods like CoasterCam, FlyCam and PeepCam), can be used safely even when the other players have not installed this mod.
