Description:

As one of the most half-thought and under-utilized features of the game, I have tried to make the Empire Offices a bit more interesting and less nonsensical. With the limited options I have uncovered in modding, I chose to treat the Offices as positions in the Emperor’s court…offices that would make sense to be held by generals and to be appointable by the Emperor (or his chosen executor). If Kurt Helborg is ever placed in the game I will change the Reiksmarshal office, but until then I see no problem with the player choosing his own Reiksmarshal. If anyone has any source material for how the Reiksmarshal is chosen, let me know.

The offices have building requirements, new abilities (more powerful, but more circumstancial for the lesser offices), and new descriptions as can be seen in the screenshots above.

Emperor – As Protector of the Empire, it is the Emperor’s authority and resources that empowers the offices beneath him. For good or ill, the Empire has developed a byzantine beareaucracy over the many centuries since its inception and it is essential that the Emperor delegate power and authority to reliable members of the Imperial Court.

Reiksmarshal – The Order of the Reiksguard Knights was founded to serve and protect the reigning count of Reikland, and the appointment of their Grandmaster is entrusted to their liege. Known as the Reiksmarshal, the Grandmaster of the Reiksguard is the most feared general under the Emperor’s banner, and is necessarily one of the realm’s greatest warriors and tacticians.

Arch Lector Palatine – From among the upper eschelon’s of Sigmar’s holy cult, the Emperor chooses one to serve him personally at court as an intermediary between himself and the Grand Theogonist. In times of war, the Arch Lector Palatine provides holy sanction to the Emperor’s efforts and in turn grants official military authority to the cult, forging trained soldiery and zealous fanatics into a single righteous blade.

Warden of the Rivers – The great rivers of the Empire provide its fastest and most reliable means of transportation and are vital arteries that must be controlled by any who wish to rule its people. In pursuance of this, the Warden of the Rivers is given great authority over military assests and is indispensible to the enterprises of nobles and burgomeisters alike.

Huntsmarshal – Imperial maps misrepresent the reach of the Emperor’s authority and roadwardens are known to describe the Empire’s villages and cities as islands of civilization surrounded by a dark and impenetrable sea of forests. Tasked with bringing Sigmar’s justice to this primordial stronghold of man’s enemies is the Imperial Huntsmarshall, a role requiring unmatched cunning and perseverance.

Lord Inquisitor – Since its public sanction by Grand Theogonist Siebold II, the Order of the Silver Hammer, also known as the Holy Order of the Templars, has played a more overt role in the fight against the Ruinous Powers. Traditionally a position held by a prelate of the Cult of Sigmar or an esteemed champion from the Empire’s most pious families, the Lord Inquisitor is the Emperor’s official representative on the Order’s high council and holds vast authourity to prosecute the Order’s interests both at court and abroad.

Castellan-Engineer – Steward of the imperial palaces and nominal head of the imperial academy, the Castellan-Engineer can bring the newest advancements in tactics and engineering to the battlefield. With duties that require expertise in siege warfare, the Castellan-Engineer is often called on to oversee assaults on fortified enemies of the Empire.
