Description:

This mod adds clothing items that hide your character’s body. This allows you to equip clothing meant for a different body shape than your character has without it looking silly.

I’m assuming most people will be using the backpack version but thanks to Skittles’ Basic Clothes Template, making one of every type just in case was easy.

Using that mod as a base is why the inventory icons don’t match up, by the way: all I did on the art front was make everything transparent on the in-world sprites.

"Disguise Gear" isn’t the most accurate name but it lets me sort them in the crafting window.

Crafting:
It’s all at the basic vanilla spinning wheel for ten pixels each.

Spawning:
If you’re really impatient, here are the technical names for /spawnitem. The capital letters are important.
3wolfDGback
3wolfDGchest
3wolfDGhead
3wolfDGlegs

Compatibility:
They’re new items and all the technical stuff is tagged with "3wolf" so it should be compatible with everything that isn’t very, very badly made all on its own.

Limitations:
> As the image shows, some armor sets work a lot better with this method than others.

> You’ll also be missing out on one of your cosmetic slots.
>> For Trink equipment(from Elithian Races), you can use the mask to avoid this: none of their cosmetic stuff actually uses the head slot.

> Equipping all of these together—or mixed with some of the many, many "hidden clothing" items added by other mods—and hitting Z to empty your hands will make your character completely invisible. I added the cheats and god items tag because I can imagine this being abused in multiplayer.

I know what needs to be done to fix those issues but not how to do those things. I don’t know how sprite sheets work so I can’t make versions of the backpack that replace the body sprites. I don’t know anything at all about the more complex parts of Starbound modding so I can’t use any method to hide the body that doesn’t involve tagging something in the clothing system.

This is where the Droden armor in the left two images comes from. The model for those is a vanilla Novakid that may or may not have modded visuals. I wasn’t paying that much attention to the test character.

Avali (Triage) Race Mod:

This is the race used in the right two images. The armor set for those is the vanilla Deputy’s Set.

Screenshots were taken at 6x, which was possible thanks to this mod.

Using this as a base dramatically reduced the amount of flailing around it took to make my mod to the point where it took me much longer to make the description and image than the mod itself.

This let me smack down human prison prefabs on multiple starter planets. It doesn’t really matter much to the composite image I ended up with but this is also just a cool mod that deserves the shout-out.
