Edit 6/2/18: Rebalancing for better realism (I3 +10 -> 0; I4 -10 -> +10; I5 -40 -> -20; I6 -100 -> -80; I7 -400 -> -300)

THIS MOD MAY REQUIRE A NEW GAME TO WORK. I HAVE HAD INCONSISTENT TESTING WITH IN-PROGRESS GAMES, BUT NEW GAMES ARE RELIABLE.

Has it ever bothered you that no one seems to like your faction growing? It seems that every time you take some new territory and increase an imperium level, you get more disliked. Is it also odd that when you own one territory everyone loves you? Why do they bother with your tiny nation?

Well now the Imperium levels are fixed. I labeled this a DEI submod because I use DEI and it works with DEI, but I’m sure it will work just fine in vanilla too.

So here are the changes:

Imperium Level 1: Moderate dislike of your faction (-20). You’re tiny. People will want to crush you and absorb you, not make friends with you. Your lack of territory will decrease your relations with other factions. They don’t want to trade or make friends with you, they want to eat you!

Imperium Level 2: Slight dislike of your faction (-5). You’re still pretty small, and people will still want to absorb you, but you’re not a small fry anymore. There are easier targets out there, and your greater territory acquisition affords you less penalty in diplomacy.

Imperium Level 3: True Neutrality (0). You’re a decent sized nation now, and no one wants to pick on you. At the same time, you’re not enough of a badass to make people want to suck up to you. Enjoy being the equivalent of Canada 😉

Imperium Level 4: The golden age (+10). This is the stage where you are becoming a power in the world, and people want to be your friend. At Imperium Level 4 you actually gain a slight BONUS to your diplomacy via your "expansionism" trait. You’re a big fish, and people want to be your friend. At the same time, you’re not viewed as a world conquerer.

Imperium Level 5: You’re making people nervous now (-20). You kept growing, and now you’re starting to resemble the Soviet Union. It’s not too bad yet, because if you’ve played the game carefully, you’ll still be in the positive on most of your diplomacy with factions you’ve made friends with before. But neutral nations are getting wary of your continued growth.

Imperium Level 6: You are a major threat at this point (-80). You won’t stop growing, and people are outright terrified. They’re mad that you’ve absorbed their friends, and they figure they’re next. Even your allies are getting really nervous. Given how big you are, it’s only a matter of time before you want their lands too.

Imperium Level 7: It’s time for the last stand for the rest of the world (-300). You’ve about gobbled it up, and no one likes you anymore. Even your allies hate you. They know you’re just saving them for last, and it’s time they ditched you and tried to save themselves. Expect to be at war with everyone pretty soon. There’s not much left of the world, and it’s time they make their last stand.

Imperium Level 8: It’s all over for everyone, but they’re not just going to roll over and die for you (-2000). If by some miracle you’ve managed to keep friends, they’re going to be gone now. Everyone knows you’re only in it for yourself, and you’ve pretty much conquered the world at this point. But they’ll give you everything they’ve got left.

Disclaimer: For some reason I cannot pinpoint, Carthage is not included in the Imperium Levels tables (on effects_bundles for you modders out there). If anyone can figure out how to get their Imperium Levels to include with this mod, I’d be most grateful. This mod works for all other factions I have tested (barbarians, greeks, Rome, eastern).

I hope ya’ll enjoy it 🙂
