If the Ottomans Lost at Varna
The Ottomans, once the premier power in Eastern Europe, have collapsed. The crushing defeat at the Battle of Varna delivered by the coalition force of Wladyslaw III and others has led to the complete expulsion of the Turks from the Balkans!
The Teutonic Order has established two crusader states where Edirne and Gallipolis once stood. They are led by the rival d’Anjou brothers and seek the others’ total annihilation. Time may only tell which shall prevail.
Of course, without his death at Varna Wladyslaw is free to reign in Croatia, Hungary, and Poland. The relationship with his brother Kazimierz is for the moment peaceful as the Jagellion brothers plot together as a family. With his death, however, the Polish superpower may begin to unravel.
The independent Bulgarian revolution under the son of the last czar has succeeded and Fruzhin Shishman has achieved rule in the Bulgarian Czardom. However, he is old and without children; the succession is in peril.
Serbia, having reasserted their despotate and claimed the Macedonian territory, has re-entered a fierce rivalry with the Bulgarians. This mainly stems from the duality of the claims in Macedon. The world will watch as these new states clash.
The old Byzantine Empire breathes new life as the crusaders’ victory in the Crusade of Varna allowed them to assert their control over Macedon and Northern Greece. However, the Masters of Adrianople and Callipolis seek to destroy them, along with Epirus. Perhaps they can work together under the banner of a new Roman Empire.
