A new Legendary Lord for the High Elves. Custom lord, mounts and Skills. Exiled from Ulthuan, Princess Islandra works to regain a foothold in her homeland. Recruitable by all High Elf Fractions that start outside of Ulthuan, she starts with a penalty with other High Elf factions, but can lessen it as she levels.
Hi everyone,
This is my first mod and I went little big. A new legendary Lord. I probably should have started with just a normal unit, but I was a little obsessed with her and couldn’t stop. Maybe in the future I’ll make a few special units to go along with her. I love everything Caledor related, So, I am sure any future mods will involve them.
The Build/Compatibility
Islandra is a kitbash of several models so there are some minor clipping. I tried to clean it up as much as I could and I left some on purpose because I like the look regardless of the clipping. Normal CA models have clipping issues sometimes so mine aren’t game breaking. She is completely retextured from head to toe. I also have added several unique skills and icons. If you are a modder you might see some errors in my table construction, but for the most part everything seems to work great Hopefully you enjoy.
She shouldn’t have any compatibility issues I tried to make her as independent as possible, but let me know if you find a conflict and I’ll try to isolate it.
Recruiting her
Currently she is recruitable by Imrik in Caledor, Teclis with the Order of Loremasters, Alith-anar in nagarythe and Eltharion in Yvesse. As she is an exiled Noble with serious problems with the phoenix throne she is not recruitable by Tyrion. I might make her recruitable by some wood elf, human and dwarf fractions in the future (let me know if you’d want that), as she has traveled the world and worked with those factions as a mercenary.
To unlock her just open the lord menu that you would use to recruit a generic lord in any campaign for either of those three fractions and you should see her.
Fluff
Like a lot of you I love the fluff behind the Warhammer world. It is probably what I like the most about the world. It is with that in mind that I tried to bring her to life as best I could.
The courts of Ulthuan are fickle. The decadence and influence from those courts and the ruling families that often weaken the kingdoms rather than help them. This often leads to stagnation and decay as the houses bicker and jockey for status rather than results. In the north the wild men raid with little resistance. In the east Greenskins invade and the throne leaves those kingdoms to fight alone. Chaos bleeds into all of the island and no real effort has been made to stop it since Caledor the Dragon Tamer. Then there is the Witch King. Like an unending nightmare he washes over every part of Ulthuan. He taints and poisons even the most loyal hearts. He kills and maims and yet in all of this the courts do nothing.
It is here that our story starts.
Princess Islandra of Caledor was born into Caldorian Nobility. Younger sister to Prince Imrik himself. While other Elven Princess trained in more courtly pursuits, Princess Islandra learned to the skills of war. In other kingdoms this might have been a scandal, but Caledor is not like other elven Kingdoms. Even if it was, she would not have listened to anyone who tried to stop her. It is said that she was as stubborn as she was beautiful and soon, they would the term deadly to her list of attributes.
In time she because one of the deadliest fighters in Caledor. Regularly championing others in duels that sometimes ended in death, much to the dismay of her brother. He often tried to tempt her martial drive with forced diplomatic missions. Sending her to the various other kingdoms, often trivial tasks. It was on these compelled callings that she saw how Ulthuan really operated.
She watched horrid events unfold. Elves dying, murdered, butchered, all the while the Ulthuan courts slept. Several thousand years ago mighty warriors would have crushed all who dare oppose Caledor and by extension Ulthuan, but For lack of will alone, those days where gone.
“What good are those that rule, if they remain idle while enemies abound?” She once exclaimed to a packed Chrace Court.
In what would later be called “the Dragon Queen’s foley” Islandra, along with several powerful Caldorian families plotted to overthrow the phoenix throne and establish Caledor as the ruling Kingdom. A task not easily done, but they had Caledor’s Dragon’s at their disposal. No single force in all of Ulthuan would have been able to stand against them. If it would have been put in motion history for the Asur might have been much different. However, before it was launched Islandra’s brother, Prince Imrik discovered what was happening. Furious he placed Islandra on house arrest. He went as far as threatening to exile her to Naggaroth itself. He quickly and quietly stamped out all resistance to his rule among the other nobles.
The Issue was settled, or so Imrik thought”
How the Phoenix throne heard of the failed plot is unknown. Some say it was Malekith’s spies that spread it, in an attempt to sow more discord, others say it was one of the nobles involved who finally came to his senses. No matter how it came out, the Throne was livid. They demanded Imrik turn his sister over to them immediately. Maybe a lesser kingdom would have complied to the high court of Ulthuan, but Caledor has never bent to anyone. They would not start now. Instead of sending his sister to certain death at the hands of the Phoenix King’s executioner he exiled her from Ulthuan. Disowned and cut off from her homeland She was forced into the outside world.
“I have no sister” said Imrik, Prince of Caledor as he turned and walked away as the Princess Islandras hawkship left the port
For a lesser equipped Elf, the outside world would have been a death sentence. Luckily for Islandra, she had been preparing for this her whole life. With a small group of retainers, a deadly set of skills and one hawkship she set off
Known mockingly as “the Dragon Queen” in Ulthuan, Princess Islandra travels the world gaining wealth and power and hoping one day to return and take that mantle for real.
TLDR:Princess Islandra of Caledor is the disowned, exiled sister of Imrik who cannot return to Ulthuan under penalty of death. She is mockingly called “the Dragon Queen” for her failed role in trying to depose the Phoenix Throne
