Description:

Ave citizens of Rome

This is mod that transports units from The Last Roman DLC into a historically accurate grand campaign scenario beginning in AD 527, following the succession of the emperor Justinian to the throne of the Roman Empire in the east. Justinian’s reign was remarkable in that it oversaw the final attempts of the Roman Empire to regain control of its former western territories – lost to the barbarian invasions in the 5th century AD.

Fifty years have passed since the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The 5th century AD saw the migration of massive barbarian supergroups – namely Visigoths, Suebi, Vandals, Alani, Ostrogoths, Franks, Burgundians and Huns into the territories of the Roman Empire. The Eastern Roman Empire was wealthy enough to purchase protection from the Hunnic threat, and was mostly outside the trajectory of the migrating hordes, aside from the Gothic assault the empire sustained towards the end of the 4th century AD, the Eastern Roman Empire remained generally unscathed from the migrating barbarians.

Now a new emperor has arisen to the throne of the Roman Empire in the East – his name is ‘Justinian’ and his ambitious policy is the ”Renevatio Imperii” (translation: ”Renewal of the Empire”). Justinian seeks to reclaim the territories lost to the barbarians in the west but first he must contend with the Sassanid Empire in a war that threatens to engulf the eastern provinces in bloodshed; after the war with the Sassanids has been settled, Justinian can finally look west to regain the old territories of the former Western Roman Empire.

Through God rule the world Justinian, make the Roman Empire great again.
