The Training Ship Golden State is the training vessel for the South Shore Maritime Academy on the southern point of the Sawyer Isles. Her twin diesel powerplant allows the ship to cruise on one engine at a top speed of 15 knots and a range of almost 300km or both engines at 22 knots and a range of 210km.

Startup:
- Go to the engine control room and start both main engines, DON’T OPEN THE THROTTLE UNTIL THE ENGINES ARE STARTED, indicated by the green light turning on
- Transfer control to the bridge
- If running in economy mode with 1 engine switch between the two to prevent overheating.
