Description:

Edit: I really didnt expect for this creation to blow up like it did lol, y’all have made this almost more popular than Baskera, and that really says something. Many thanks for the ratings and steam point thingies. I really appreciate it! Glad to see that people enjoyed the creation, especially since it was something completely different from my others.

VIIKane U-Boat Concept. My first attempt at a submarine.

Intro Note

Hallo 🙂 Its beena while since I’ve posted. This is mainly due to a lack of motivation, and my current projects are quite big so its going to take a lot more work before they can be released.

Basics

VIIKane is my attempt at a submarine. After watching WolfPack345 on YouTube I really wanted to make a U-Boat, so why not? This submarine was originally based on the VII-C class, however, it has become an absolute jumble of designs (which is why I called it a concept). I have made a little cinematic film/intro about this sub which can be found above. Its a bit long and choppy, apologies for that lol. I’m working to get better at video editing.

Small Disclaimer

The torpedoes on this sub dont work well, and this will be explained a bit more below. The main problems is getting stuck during launch and overall stability. But.. I wanted to make a sub, not an accurate torpedo launcher lol.

Its best to have more than 1 player if first-person only mode is enabled!

Overview

The VIIKane is a simple diesel/electric hybrid. The diesel two diesel engines can be used when the conning tower is above water, and the electric engines can be used when under.

I have made my own cutaway style image showing the rooms, which can be seen here:

(For a better resolution image, check the end of the images at the top ^)

Torpedo Rooms: These are simply rooms where torpedoes are fired.
Sleeping Quarters: These two rooms both have 8 beds, making a total of 16.
Radio Room: Simple room for the main radio communications person, also includes a bed.
Galley & Head: Kitchen and restroom, respectively.
Storage: Room for cold food storage and ammunition.
Periscope & Sonar Room: As the name says, this is the main observation room.
Main Control: This is the main driver of the boat. Rear fin rudders are controlled here.
Engine Room: As the name says, this is where the two engines are located. Main throttles can be controlled here. The two engine exteriors are made to run as if it was a real engine.

Engine Basics

There are 3 main engines on this build. Green, Red, and Electric. Reading below is important to not exploding 🙂

Electric engines can be used from the main driver or the rear torpedo room. These are to be used at any time.

Diesel engines can only be controlled in the engine room, however, the clutch can be controlled by the main driver. These engines are to ONLY be used above water! (IMPORTANT) If you are looking to dive, you need to put the throttle AND clutch to 0! If either of these are left on, the engine will catch fire! The main control has dials that indicate if these engines are on or off. Use these before diving!

Diving Basics

Diving is controlled by the main driver. The system uses hatches and impeller/electric pumps to regulate water flow. There are several dials indicating distance from floor and one indicator for the amount of water currently in the ballast.

It should be noted that even with a full ballast the creation will slowly sink before fully diving. Make sure that you don’t put too much ballast as it may suddenly sink faster!

Driving & Torpedo Basics

(Driving) As pointed above, driving can be done by the main control helm. However, in first person only worlds it is pretty much required that a second user is there to man the periscope. Without this, you cant see.

(Torpedoes) To launch a torpedo, open the first hatch and detach the torpedo. Make sure to sprint when pushing or it may get caught! If it does, use the handle to pull it out and try again.

After the torpedo is in the hatch, turn the key. The key gives you around 8 seconds to close and flood the hatch using the controls above/beside the first hatch.

Torpedoes may get caught on the outer door due to odd physics! Close the outer hatch and open it again, this should dislodge it.
