One-masted eight-gun tender (cutter) "Avos", 48 feet long and 50 tons displacement This tender was the first vessel of the Russian-American Company, which was built in Alaska in 1806 in Novo-Arkhangelsk (now the city of Sitka, USA).
It was the first vessel built in Alaska by the Russians. Its captain was Gavrila Davydov, the team consisted of 12 people.
Russian envoy Chamberlain Nikolai Rezanov called the tender "Maybe". On July 27, 1806, the tender "Avos" under the command of 22-year-old midshipman Gavrila Davydov with a crew of 12 industrialists, in the company of the ship "Juno" and under the general direction of Lieutenant Nikolai Khvostov, went on a secret expedition to assert the interests of the Russian Empire in the waters of the southern Kuril Islands and Sakhalin.
