Description:
Southern Railway N15X ‘Remembrance’ Class 4-6-0

This is a model of the Southern Railway’s N15x class, designed by Richard Maunsell as a conversion of the LB&SCR’s ‘Remembrance’ L class 4-6-4 tank engines. While capable performers in their own right, the N15X designation gave crews the wrong idea that these were an improvement of the LSWR-designed N15 ‘King Arthur’ class. Additionally, due partially to their extensive rebuild, they were rough riders and relatively inefficient compared to the N15, making them somewhat unpopular with crews, and they were mostly relegated to secondary duties, or cross-country and inter-regional trains rather than heavy express services for which they were intended.

Several of the class were also loaned to the GWR during World War 2 for freight duties.
