Description:

Summary: This mod increases the likelihood of the educational great wonder actually resulting in a positive outcome, using modern statistics to approximate point gains for children in the game. The mod assumes that all children of aristocrats (i.e. those in the court) were historically expected to be tutored to some degree. The current educational Great Wonders have a negligible impact, that should be far higher. The mod improves the rates of skill point attainment to a level where ~10% of children will receive 4 points of the designated stat benefit, ~20% will get 3 points, ~33% will get 2 points, ~28% will get 1 point, and ~9% will get 0 points.

Details:
Analysing using mean binomial probabilities to give an approximate estimate of the educational great wonder outcomes, we can see that that in the base game these GWs greatly underperform. The following image shows the likelihood of a stat increase with a base game level 4 wonder.

That’s a 0.3% chance of a child in the court, gaining a 4 point increase, for a level 4 great wonder. As a result of these extremely low probabilities, the educational GWs are terrible value for money and mostly pointless.

The mod increases probabilities so that there is a much increased likelihood of stat increases, in line with modern university outcomes.

NOTE: Mod is not ironman compatible, and I HAVE NOT updated the tooltips. If someone would like to do so, I will gladly add it into the mod, with attributions. Furthermore, it is unlikely I will be able to maintain this mod in the future, so if someone would like to become co-creator, please contact me.
