Description:

This mod adds a +8 Bonus vs. Large to all Dwarf units with Great Weapons. Save game compatible.

Affected units: Dwarf Warriors (Great Weapons), Longbeards (Great Weapons), The Grumbling Guard (RoR), Hammerers, Peak Gate Guard (RoR), Quarrellers (Great Weapons), Rangers (Great Weapons), Ulthar’s Raiders (RoR)

Please note that the Peak Gate Guard are Special Snowflakes and insisted on a +10 Bonus vs. Large.

Q. Why?
A. Because the Dwarves needed a counter to enemy cavalry that didn’t involve Organ Guns and it just so happens that hitting cavalry is easier with a bigger axe!

Q. No seriously, why?
A. I was serious. Slayers do a good job of countering monsters but their lack of armour and charge defence make them a poor counter to cavalry. Eliminating enemy cavalry as the Dwarves tends to involve Organ Guns and Thunderers protected by Longbeards (GW) with Slayers waiting in the wings to jump in after the charge. It’s all very complicated and this mod simplifies things a bit.

Q. Is this mod overpowered?
A. No. +8 is a very modest bonus. It’s a far cry from the bonuses halberds bestow and Longbeards are the only unit of this bunch with a charge defence.

Q. Is this mod underpowered then?
A. No. The Dwarves already have their own tactics for defeating enemy cavalry and this mod doesn’t take any of them away. As a Dwarf player you’ll simply have more options for countering enemy cavalry, and if playing against the Dwarves you’ll just have to pay a little more attention to where you commit your cavalry.

Q. Why didn’t you just port over your Warhammer 1 mod?
A. I mostly did, but a new mod for a new game as they say. I prefer the +8 baseline over the variable amounts I used in my old mod.
