Description:

Ave! And welcome to HBO Total Conversion, a true Roman reskin for true Romans that tweaks the looks of various units to match their appearance in HBO’s "Rome."

For obvious reasons, this is best used with the Caesar in Gaul or Imperator Augustus campaigns, but the reskins will apply to any campaign where these units are available.

Hope you enjoy it, and remember to give a thumbs up above to help other people see it!

Legendary Lords
  • Julius Caesar, Marc Antony, Gaius Octavian, Marcus Lepidus, Sextus Pompey, and Cleopatra VII have each been reskinned to look closer to the actors who played them in "Rome." In the case of Pompey, Sextus doesn’t appear in the show (instead, they have a fictional "Quintus Pompey") so I based his appearance off of his portraiture.
  • Octavian, playing up his role as Caesar’s adopted son and heir, inherits Caesar’s sword and shield, while the other triumvirs each march into battle with their own unique sword and shield designs. Pompey, as befits Neptune’s Scourge, fights with a trident when mounted.
  • Though Macedonian by blood, Cleopatra is very proud of Egyptian culture and wears the blue war crown into battle, like a Pharaoh of old.
  • Caesar and Octavian, being political figures, go about the campaign map bareheaded, but wear their unique helmets on the battlefield.
  • Each lord also has a slightly different appearance if they’re removed from command and go back to being politicians.

Reskinned Units
  • Legionaries: each equipped with their distinctive bronze helmet, lorica hamata, a pair of short trousers, and a unique shield pattern modeled off of their TV appearance.
  • Veteran Legionaries: in addition to having better-quality mail armor than the rank-and-file, veterans wear a soldier’s cloak in their primary or secondary faction color and display a unique shield pattern.
  • First Cohort: we don’t see an equivalent onscreen, but here, the brave men of the First Cohort augment their armor with bronze greaves, bracers, and a heavy bronze helmet.
  • Legionary Cohort: we don’t see the evolution to imperial-era troops in the show, so I’ve made them have a hybrid appearance. Half wear the classic lorica segmentata, half wear a high-quality lorica hamata, and helmets are evenly split between the First Cohort’s helmet and the new Gallic style.
  • Legionary Cavalry: like their infantry brethren, cavalry squadrons wear mail shirts, cloaks, and a different style of bronze helmet, and carry a unique oval shield.
  • Artillery Crews: equipped just like their colleagues, but with a toolkit and light bracers.
  • Standard Bearers: given the same HBO-style helmets and armor to match the rest of their unit.
  • Marian & Imperial Centurions: modeled after the armor Lucius Vorenus wears at different points in the series, with some variation in helmet crests, phalerae, and tunic/shield colors.

Thanks to Kaziel for the meshes/textures used for the legionaries’ armor and Pompey’s shield. Additional shield textures and the HBO-style helmets are adapted from the assets in Celticus and Benjin’s Extravaganza modder’s resource.
