On Steam Workshop

Description:
Summary

This mod allows you to name all of your units without the normal 2 promotion restriction. Also includes most citizen units such as settlers, builders, Great People, etc. In case you didn’t already know, in vanilla Civilization VI you could only name a unit once it got 2 promotions.

This mod was extremely simple to make, and I’m not being modest: this mod is literally only 1 line of code. It took me longer to upload the mod to Steam than to write the code for the entire mod.

NOTE: This mod does not work with apostles for some reason and it is probably not fixable.

EDIT 7/19/2021: Just realized there’s another mod on the Steam workshop that does exactly the same thing as this mod, called Unit Rename. For the record, I didn’t copy his code (because I didn’t know the mod existed), and although I kind of feel bad my mod is exactly the same as his. However I’m not going to delete this mod because a lot of people are already subscribed to it and are using it.

Features
  • Allows all units to be named right after you train them, so that they don’t need to get the usual 2 promotions to be named
  • Includes citizen units and some others. Working units:
    • Settlers
    • Builders
    • Great People
    • Missionaries
  • Does NOT work with these units (I honestly don’t know why and unfortunately it’s probably not possible to fix, I know it would be extremely useful to name your apostles based on their promotions):
    • Apostles
    • Support class units

Compatibility

Should be compatible with all DLCs and mods that don’t update the number of promotions it requires to name a unit.
