Magpie’s Hairacter Development – Hobby, Trade, and Region Accessories
From ribbons to rocks, hairpins to head-wraps, these accessorized hairstyles invite you to dream up a little more detail in a character’s backstory.
Okay, sure, the heroes are all ex-farmers … but what did they farm? Did they work with oxen or horses? Keep geese? Tend an herb garden?
What region did they grow up in? Did they collect seashells or quartz points from the nearby landscape, or gather small skulls under the tree where the owls nested?
Which chores did they take over as they grew into adolescence? Did he do most of the sewing (and save some buttons to adorn his braid)? Did she take to wearing a scarf to keep her hair out of the buttermilk, or a net to confine it while she did the baking for a couple of neighboring families?
Was she crowned Harvest Queen at the community bonfire last year? Does he collect bright ribbons, dreaming of becoming a traveling peddler one day? Do they take pride in their long hair, but pin it up in careful rolls while hunting and trapping?
THE DEETS
This pack includes 24 hairs, many of them with both an accessorized and a non-accessorized version (so the actual number is a little under 40). Hairs will age according to the normal Wildermyth process (though I tend to add some more fine grey wispies, just as a style thing), while accessories will retain their original color, which is mapped to either the secondary (more common) or primary outfit color you choose.
I’ve aimed for a mix of hair textures ranging from straight to wavy to curly to coily.
Everything will turn up on random-generated NPCs; most of them will appear on any gender, though just a few are female-specific. (If men getting to wear stylish hair bits and bobs makes you uncomfortable, this is not the mod for you.) Every hairstyle is designed to fit both the male and the female skull shape convincingly.
