Description:

NOW STORMLINK COMPATIBLE! The Stena Unity is a large Passenger Car ferry, which uses the RoRo (Roll on Roll Off) system, where vehicles are loaded at the stern, and unloaded at the bow. Over 75 hours have gone into this, and she is by far my best creation, so please enjoy! This vessel was constructed for the Abbot/First Passenger Ferry Challenge

HISTORY
In early 2007, Stena Line began to consider a replacement for the ageing Stena Europe on the Fishguard-Rosslare route, and commissioned German shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft to design and build the vessel. The designs were completed and construction was about to begin when the 2007 financial crash wreaked havoc with Stena Line’s fortunes, and Stena Unity’s launch was delayed indefinitely. In 2016, despite the implications of Brexit, Stena Line decided to re-initiate the Stena Unity project, albeit this time to operate as a versatile assistive vessel to all Stena’s operations on the Irish Sea, providing extra capacity where needed. To cater for this, she was given a complete interior re-design in the latest fashion, and entered service in August 2017. In March 2020, due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, she was laid up as there was no need for extra capacity, however re-entered service in July 2020, and has remained in service since.

SPECIFICATIONS
Length: 51m
Width: 13.75 m
Maximum speed: 21 knots
Range: No idea lol
Car capacity: 45
Passenger capacity: 116
Engines: 4 large, 1 generator, 1 motor
Propulsion: Triple Screw

LOADING TIPS
-Load the central lanes first, then fill the outer ones evenly.
-Lower the on-shore ramps as far as possible
-Reverse slowly using the electric (secondary) propulsion ONLY
-Lower ramp gradually, as one sees fit
-Some vehicles are too tall to travel through the bow door, and may only fit through the stern. If this is the case, you may have to reverse out of the stern.
-The bow thrusters are EXTREMELY sensitive, be careful!
-If you are not tied up with rope, put the secondary propeller to 0.02, it should keep the vessel somewhat stable.
-My personal preference is to use these ramps, although others are available if you prefer: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2006458864
