Ex-KMB Leyland Olympian 9.5m double-decker bus
The Leyland Olympian was a 2-axle and 3-axle double-decker bus chassis manufactured by Leyland between 1980 and 1993. It was the last Leyland bus model in production.
Between 1983-85, Hong Kong Kowloon Motor Bus purchased 120 Leyland Olympians 9.5-meter buses to walk on narrow and curved roads. These 9.5m Olympians were the last batch with small destination screen and rear upper emergency exit window design. The KMB insignia between both decks was introduced in 1983 to celebrate its Golden Jubilee year. A slogan in Chinese, meaning “ KMB service is improving every day” was added below the insignia in 1984. Both the slogan and the square insignia were dropped in 2018. The 9.5-meter buses were fully retired before New Year’s Eve in 2002, Some were later repatriated to the United Kingdom or preserved by some private owner.
