Description:

This vessel became a pioneer in the history of passenger hydrofoil ships. It was first presented in Moscow in the summer of 1957 at the International Festival of Students ‘ Youth. The ship was designed to carry passengers on rivers on suburban and local lines up to 500 km long and could go to reservoirs. The feature of the "Rockets" was an open area on the stern, where passengers were freely allowed.

Vessels of this type were operated on regular routes along the largest waterways of the vast country – the Volga, Dnieper, Pripyat, Amur, Ob, Neva, Lake Baikal, Ladoga, Onega and coastal waters of the Black Sea. Cruise ships have been successfully exported to many countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

"Rockets" were very popular in the USSR and beyond. They were mentioned in songs and poems. The name "Rocket" has become a household name, and often so called all ships of this type, confusing "Rockets" with "Meteors" and other hydrofoils. With the advent of these high-speed motor ships, passengers were able to quickly get on the water to hard-to-reach settlements. A trip on the "Rocket" to some picturesque bay was one of the favorite types of family recreation on the river.
