Description:

A beautiful take on an early 18th century British frigate.

The HMS Eagle is based on real plans of the original HMS Surprise and closely resembles the replica ship currently functioning as a floating museum. There is some liberty taken of course, and the limitations of Stormworks had major say in many design decisions.

Unfortunately, after building her with a FULL interior, I had to go back and clear it all out due to game limitations. This was really painful to do, considering the amount of time invested. Nonetheless, I have uploaded her in this semi-complete state. She still retains her full gun deck and quarterdeck.

Specs:
Length: 62m overall
Beam: 18m including mainsail yard
Height: 46m to top of mainmast
Top speed: idk like 1 fartin’ knot
Turning Radius: HUGE

Features:
Tiller
Functioning Lamps
Opening Gunports (no cannons yet)
Rotating Yards (I advise against squaring the yards in a strong wind; she will heel VERY hard)
Lots of ropes and deck details

The Eagle is my honest attempt at getting some attention on the possibility of sails in Stormworks. With the current wings for sails, she is too top-heavy, requires too much ballast, and is much too slow, even in a running full gale. And adding staysails/ jibs and a spanker made her uncontrollable.
I imagine how many peoples’ excitement for the game would reignite with the introduction of customizable, reef-able sails for us to experiment with.

DO NOT SPAWN THE EAGLE NORMALLY; SHE’LL WIG OUT LIKE A BAT OUTTA HECK.
YOU MUST SPAWN HER IN WITH A MISSION.
EDITING REQUIRES A CUSTOM BUILD AREA WITH DIMENSIONS ABOVE.

Thank you Brandjuh[NL] for the great wooden textures utilized on the decks. From here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1899915603

I love sailing. Just you, your vessel, the wind and sea.
