Description:
Everything a Sawyer resident needs, right in one spot.

Welcome to Portree, the main commercial hub of the Sawyer Islands. Portree is home to 8 businesses and 4 houses. Feel free to stop by while out and about.

Basics

Portree to me adds one of the bits Sawyer lacked… a downtown. This environment mod includes paint block buildings with detailed exteriors to liven up part of the map. Overall this project took around 4 days to fully complete and I am really happy with the result!

Included

-New town!
-Roadway segments combined with terrain roads to create a more detailed environment.
-10 downtown buildings, each with detailed exteriors. Each is based on irl Scottish buildings to blend in with the game’s setting.
-Custom hedges.
-Parking lot for visitors.
-Mix of custom props and game props to liven up the town.
-Four road signs at the two outer junctions as guidance.
-Two houses placed farther out for a better blend of density.
-Map marker for location.
-Area for hooking up power.
-Bus stops.

Downtown buildings:
-Bank.
-Postal office.
-Hair salon.
-Pharmacy.
-Game store.
-Library.
-Radio station.
-Two houses.

Location

This env mod is located on the island below Sawyer’s windfarm and Mount Goldblum. The town itself is straight down from the White Sound where the road has a small S-curve. A marker is presented on the map.

Why Portree?

The general idea of Portree was to have a proper town area in the Sawyer Island region. Two of the buildings were based off buildings in Portree, Scotland. To visit these buildings, I will provide links farther down.

FPS

Stormworks averages around 62 FPS on my computer. This env mod only drops that down to a minimum of 48 (average of 54), which.. is pretty dang good xD.

Notes

I spaced most of the roadway markers farther out to prevent vehicles smashing into them. Be sure to stay on the road and drive slow through the town. While not necessary, these are just steps to prevent a building fire that cant be put out.

Hooking Up Electrical

I included an underground area for hooking up the electrical grid. Most buildings are able to run on their own power, however the library and bus stops do not have this ability.

To gain entry to this area, either noclip under the main road or go behind the pharmacy. There is a miniature house with two helms. Interact with the helm closest to the road (wheel is facing downwards so its a bit hard to tell) and then get out, this allows you to teleport under the map.

Hooking things up is simple, there are red poles for buildings and areas to connect them.

To leave simply go back to the little house and interact with the other helm (orange color).

The "Radio Seagull" was a logo from an old project, so I decided to add it onto the building adjacent to the bank.

Want to arrive in style? Check out the BRS Uzorov! I have been able to watch the building process of this vehicle, and trust me, they have put a ton of effort into it. From looks, drive systems, and LUA, it is a very efficient and stylish vehicle. I would heavily suggest taking it out for a drive sometime!
