Easy Placed Item Icons
Add the ability to display icons of placed items near the cursor. Useful for locating small items on the ground like vehicle keys or needles. By default only items within the pre-defined lists will be displayed, but customization options allows for all items to be displayed. A full list of all items in the pre-defined lists is below. Suggestions for items to add to the pre-defined lists are welcome.
By default, icons will be displayed for any placed items on the square that your cusor is pointing to when both aiming (can be set to required or not required) and holding down the left shift key (can be set to require the key be held, the key will toggle icon display on or off, or no key press required)(the key can also be rebound). Note that items on objects such as a desk will only show when the cursor is pointing to the sqare at the base of the object that the items are placed on. So if the items are on a desk, their icons will be displayed when pointing at the floor underneath the desk. The base of the iso cursor will be used as the selection point while aiming.
Using with Mod Options (Build 41) allows for customization for how you want to use it. Options include displaying all items rather than just the pre-defined item lists, delay timers to customize use for gameplay purposes and reducing performance penalties, maximum number of icons displayed, icon size, icon transparency, and more.
Note that disabling both the aiming and key press requirements will allow you to view item icons at all times, but may impact performance on some machines. It is recommended that if you disable both the aiming and key press requirements that you then turn on the Search Performance Delay.
Written for and tested only in Project Zomboid version 41.54. All other versions are untested.
