Description:

This is a mod that I made for my own personal use that ended up vaguely polished enough to perhaps be shared.

Fair warning, it’s a bit rough around the edges. There are lots of very talented modders producing really amazing work. I am not one of them 🙂

I really enjoy the gunline gameplay of the empire; I think it’s a much more interesting dynamic than the swarms of archers you tend to run as High Elves, but I prefer High Elves overall.

So I gave High Elves their own (magical) handgunners. This is not remotely lore friendly but I don’t really care about lore.

It also adds a little more gender diversity to the HE lineup (which actually is apparently lore friendly).

NOTE: The models are re-colored Repanse (as the only female skeleton I could find to work with the animation); her hair covers her ears anyway, so maybe she’s secretly an Elf?

If you’re wondering why I didn’t use Elven models, it’s because they are not compatible with the animation for firing a rifle. I have included a screenshot of what you get when you use Elven heads with the hu1 animation.

This mod will add Tempest Handgunners to all High Elf factions, both human and AI.
They require a level 3 barracks and a level 1 smith to recruit. They are quite expensive, as appropriate for their damage output.
This mod will also add Tempests to lvl 3 garrisons and walls, since they’re fun to defend walls with. This is of course not particularly balanced and will make Elven defences rather stronger.

Following requests in the discussion, these are now somewhat balanced for Vanilla.
An SFO submod is available here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2414299189

I don’t intend to make any other submods, but I don’t care what anyone else does with this mod, so feel free.

Some acknowledgements:
I followed Cryswar’s guides when learning how to mod; the lack of quality in my mod does not reflect the quality of his guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1694945483

At some point in the process of learning how to do this, I dug into the files of the following mods (all of which are better made than this mod):
Ladies of Empire: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1940334476
Empire Mixed Gender Units: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1965057353
The Dragon Queen: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2373057381
Lothern Skycutter: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2245662298

I believe all code/textures in this mod are now original, my profuse apologies if something has been taken from one of the above mods and overlooked; I have attempted to remove all cut and pasted code.
