Odrysian Overhaul
Greetings friends, Romans, gamers. Welcome to the first installment of what will hopefully be a series of mods aimed at improving your world-dominating experience.
This mod adds 12 new (and hopefully historical) units to the Odrysian Kingdom which can be used in both custom battles and the campaign:
Thracian Swordsmen – Blacksmith
Thracian Noble Swordsmen – Level 4 Administrative Building (will rename here once I remember what it’s called)
Thracian Axemen – Meeting Hall
Thracian Noble Axemen – Level 4 admin
Thracian Spearmen – Bronze Workshop
Thracian Noble Spearmen – Level 4 admin
Thracian Horse Archers – Level 2 Stables
Thracian Pikemen – level 3 Bronze
Thracian Noble Pikemen – Level 4 admin
Thracian Noble Peltasts – Level 4 admin
Thracian Legionaries – Level 4 Iron Wroskhop
Just added. These units are available as replacements for existing units once "Hellenisation" is researched:
Thracian Thorax Warriors
Thracian Thorax Swordsmen
Thracian Thorax Axemen
Thracian Hoplites
Thracian Thorax Pikemen
Thracian Late Cavalry
Thracian Late Horsemen
Thracian Heavy Peltasts now replace Thracian Pelasts
When I bought the Pirates and Raiders pack I had been excited to finally get ahold of a barbarian faction that I felt comfortable taking over the world with (something strikes me as wrong to be carving out an empire with the nearly naked rabble of the forest) but was disappointed when I found out that they only had about six units in their entire roster, so I set out to change that and make them a faction that’s actually viable against their overly hostile neighbors.
All units were designed and balanced with the vanilla game in mind so should fit in both visually and statistically with their counterparts but may be out of place with a combat overhaul or somesuch. I strive for historical accuracy so if anybody better versed in history than I either sees something out of place or has a suggestion for something to be added is encouraged to do so, and even if you aren’t and just want to tell me how horrible an abomination my work is I’m ok with that too.
I am aware that the unit cards are unpolished and ugly, they were rushed (I’ll be frank, I hate making the unit cards) and once the roster is completed to a general level of satisfaction I will be finishing them to a more professional grade.
The faction trait changes have been removed due to the trait changes included in the latest game patch. I will likely revisit that idea at a later date, but for now the CA given traits are satisfactory.
Special thanks to Sebidee for helping me become a no talent hack too 😛
