Description:
Introduction to the LRC

Designed in the 1970s and entering regular service in 1981, the LRC is Canada’s fastest non-turbine train. Implemented as a successor to the Turbotrain, the LRC was designed for fast services between dense urban centres. Although the locomotives were withdrawn in 2001, the cars remain in service on VIA’s corridor routes. This particular unit, #6917, is under restoration in Toronto.
