Oikoumene – naming cities upon foundation
This is a standalone mod that is the part of the Oikouménē overhaul. If you are already using the Oikouménē overhaul, it’s not necessary for you to subscribe to this mod.
This mod has been created for those who want to use it with other mods out there and it should be compatible with pretty much every modification except those that change entirely the campaign map.
It’s highly recommended to read through the full mod description on PDX forum Link[forum.paradoxplaza.com]
This mod allows you to name your settlements upon foundation of cities and metropolises through an extensive event scripting. The mod contains a list of Greek settlement names divided into groups, both shared and restricted. Each newly named settlement is assigned a local toponym which is automatically selected by the script depending on which area the settlement is located in. All settlement names and local toponyms are authentic and carefully researched names in ancient Greek language rendered in Latin alphabet.
➡ 31 settlement names divided into 7 groups (Traditional Greek and Macedonian names, Argead dynastic names, Seleucid dynastic names, Lagid dynastic names, Antipatrid dynastic names, Antigonid dynastic names, Alkimachid dynastic names)
➡ all dynastic names apart from the Agread group are restircted and linked to the existing bloodlines
➡ map divided into 108 areas, each one with its own local toponym
➡ each settlement name is unique and it cannot be duplicated
➡ any selectable settlement names overlapping with the existing settlement names have been removed
➡ currently over 3300 possible combinations
➡ current geographical scope: the vast majority of the Hellenistic World without Italy, Sicily and Africa for now
➡ current faction scope: all Diadochi factions (Seleukids, Lagids, Antigonids, Alkimachids and Antipatrids)
The current scope of the mod will be expanded upon in the future, both in terms of new factions added and new regions covered.
The mod is compatible with savegames.
The mod is not ironman compatible.
