Description:

The MV Killarney is a medium/large ferry, capable of holding 4 rows of tall vehicles side by side within its sealed parking deck. This ferry is capable of completing long (over 900km) journeys at a top speed of 33km/h. During these journeys passengers can relax in the large cabin, and can shower, sleep, or take in the view. As the captain, you can rely on a waypoint autopilot to take you to your destination safely, and you can keep informed with the stats display. This ferry isn’t just capable of moving cars and passengers though, as it is extremely versatile, making it perfect for many missions, whether towing multiple boats, treating and transporting rescued passengers, or transporting goods, this ferry can do it. The Killarney takes its name from the town in the Irish county of Kerry.

For now you must use infinite electricity. The ship will lag when initially spawned in, but the lag will disappear as you begin to sail away.

When using StormLink, to set the passenger capacity (currently 196, but may increase with new updates), type in the chat; ?pcap 196

To start: (Please read this section, otherwise you will not be able to use the ship to its full potential!)
1. Make your way to the bridge on the very top deck
2. To the left of the door, I suggest turning on the interior lights
3. Walk towards helm, look to the right, and advance the left and right throttles slightly
4. Stand in front of the engine control (red) table
5. Turn on all the available switches; 1 at top right (air pump), 6 on left (starters, coolant pumps, fuel pumps), 2 at top right middle (direction selectors, on means forwards, off means backwards), and the 4 switches beneath (gears 1 and 2 selectors for both engines)
6. Move back over to the helm and disengage clutches (2 switches beneath engine throttles), you should now be moving
7. Look to the right and find the "Displays" button, I suggest turning them on. Also find the rotating lights lever and button, light them and start them turning
– To use the autopilot, go to the helm, press F, and look directly up. Press E or Q at the point on the screen you would like to travel to. Now press the autopilot button directly in front of the helm, the ship should begin to turn on its own, and an indicator light will turn on. When the autopilot is turning, you can speed up the turn by slowing one throttle (slow left when turning left, slow right when turning right). To move the map display, press and hold E or Q on the screen, and drag the mouse towards where you want to drag the map. To zoom in or out, press and hold E at one point on the screen, and whilst holding it, press and hold Q at another point on the screen, then drag the mouse and the map will zoom one way. If it zooms the opposite way to where you want (e.g. out rather than in), then let it finish zooming, and then repeat and it should zoom in the desired direction (e.g. out). To delete one stage of the route, press B on the screen. To centre the map back to the ferry, press R on the screen. To clear the entire route, press C on the screen. The credits for this brilliant autopilot system are below.
– When docking, you should slow the throttles almost to idle, and use them to help you turn. Make use of the left and right thrusters too. Don’t forget that you can also use the clutches, and you can also change the direction of one engine independently of the other. If docking the front ramp, lower and extend it slightly before you get too close to the dock, and remember you can use the lasers to guide the ramp.
– When the waves get bad, it’s best to be prepared. Move all cargo you can inside, then shut and seal all 4 car deck doors. Also ensure that you have shut all other low level doors, like those at the backs of the 2 rear staircases (unless they are inside doors, e.g. the doors within the car deck to the lift can remain open). Ensure that the car deck drainage system is engaged; most importantly, it will pump water away from the inner car deck and back into the ocean, but it will also continuously pump water off the outer car deck. It can also help to fill all the ballasts tanks to bring the ships centre of gravity down, so it does not sway as much.
– If you do need to use the lifeboats, use the lever to swing them out, then disconnect the ropes from the tracks and tether them to the boat itself. The system to remove the lifeboats may change.
