Description:
Mod Jam 2022

This mod was made as part of mod jam 2022, organised by Vandy and Cataph. For the last mod jam before WH3, each modder chose a different prompt from a selection. Mine was ‘Font of Life’, so I made a hero based on river spirits described in lore.

Features

Adds a new forest spirit hero for wood elves. The Naiad.
Recruitable from tier 4 of the forest spirits building (tier 3 for Drycha).
5 variants:

The Hero

Naiads are reasonably fast ranged heroes. They fire jets of water for magical explosive damage and are decent in melee.
Their abilities include a debuff that lowers both speed and magic resist, making enemies more vulnerable to the water blasts as well as a bound spell version of tidecall.

I didn’t have much time to test them out before the jam deadline, so feedback on stats, abilities and the skill tree are all welcome.

SFO Submod

I don’t do those. If any SFO submodder makes one, I’ll link it here.

Recommended mod

Naiads share recruit cap with branchwraiths, so use mastervovan’s mod to increase the cap if you want more

Credits

Big thank you to everyone on the Modding Den [discord.com] who made it possible for me to make this mod. In no particular order, special shoutouts to:

  • Vandy for organising another great modding event
  • Ole for creating the asset editor tool and helping me with animations
  • Phazer, for creating RME editor
  • ChaosRobie, for help with shaders and wsmodels
  • Meh, for reminding me to sign up for the jam. And for allowing me to use his custom medusa campaign animations. I may not have taken part if he hadn’t also reminded me I’d talked about wanting to make a naiad a year ago
