Chelsea Tugboat – The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button
In the film’s story, Chelsea was used for regular tugboat harbor work. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Chelsea’s captain Mike decides to support US navy with his one and only wealth; Chelsea. During a night patrol, Chelsea encounters a German U-boat and Captain Mike dies from incoming MG fire. Before his death, he puts the throttle at full flank and rams into the U-boat on it’s side, causing an explosion and resulting in the sinking of Chelsea.
Chelsea was a real tugboat, There were two vessels in the movie, one was the real Chelsea, built in 1926, and the other one was a full stage mockup with CGI skin laid over it. Original Chelsea was lost in december 2006. Wreck was found 55 meters deep near Dry Tortugas.
