Description:

This mod re-works sieges by providing the defender quite a few buffs.

Towers and Walls:

– Gates have their hit points increased by 100%

– Tier 1-2 towers have their hit points increased by 200%
– Tier 3-4 towers have their hit points increased by 300%
– Towers fire 175 degrees up from 45 degrees
– Tier 1 towers have their range decreased from 450 -> 300
– Tier 2 towers have their range decreased from 450 -> 350

Siege Equipment:

– Siege towers and rams speed decreased by ~30%
– Ladders take 2x time to climb
– Ladders cause 1.5x fatigue
– Siege tower require 40% less manpower to create
– Battering ram require 50% less manpower to create

Defenders:

– 10 extra morale
– 30% magic resistance
– 30% resistance to missiles
– 25% increased ammo

Misc:

– Siege attrition starts after 4 turns instead of 6 turns by default (Modifiers will such as wall upgrades and lord buffs may change these)

JUSTIFICATIONS / GOALS OF MOD

Makes cheesing more difficult:

– Harder to corner camp since towers have wider firing arc.
– Defenders have increased missile and magic resistance.
– Towers have more hit point to the point where its still viable to focus them down but will consume 4x the resources per tower.

Encourage siege equipment construction:

– Siege equipment construction time reduced by ~50%
– Siege towers have been nerfed so there is more incentive to build more siege towers since towers are at risk of being destroyed.
– Ladders cause more fatigue and take longer to climb.

Objective control:

– Tower firing arc can now even hit units inside the walls as well as on the walls. Ignoring towers will cause significantly more casualties. More incentives to take tower control.

More practical usage of large units / artillery:

– Some sections of the wall have their hitpoints decreased by 50% creating opportunities to make gaps in walls so you can funnel larger units into enemy settlement. I personally wasn’t a fan of artillerys in the past being used to remove towers and killing units. Rather, I see artillery as a tool in sieges to open gaps so enable various other units to participate in a siege.

BUGS

– Wall aspects of this mod don’t work as intended. I’ll need to look into a more viable way to maintain wall hit points.

TEMP FIXES

– Disabled > 180 degreee firing arc due to friendly fire issues. Defaults to 175 degree arc.
