SNCF OCEM 29
This pack contains the SNCF OCEM-29 family of wagons, designed by the Office Centrale des Etudes de Matériel during the 1920s. It includes flats, open wagon (with or without brakeman’s platform), van and tanks.
The Office Central d’Etudes de Matériel de Chemin de Fer (OCEM) was created after the First World War. Indeed, faced with the urgent need to reconstitute the freight fleets, it became necessary to unify the manufacture of the equipment ordered by the different networks (Nord, Est, AL, PLM, Midi, PO and Etat).
The O.C.E.M. studied a new family of wagons based on the so-called OCEM-19 family (which preceded the OCEM-29), increasing the length of the buffer from 8.54 m to 9.31 m and the wheelbase from 3.75 m to 4.5 m, in order to increase the loading capacity, but also to allow a better stability of the equipment
