SNCB HLE / SERIE 18
SERIE 18 were a small groups of 6 polycurrent engines built by Alsthom between 1973 and 1974. Derivated from french 40100 serie, they were meant to be used under 4 differents current between Belgium, France, Germany and Netherlands. They are the ancestor of contemporary High-Speed train network all over western Europe, mainly driven by TGV variants nowaday, which pushed them towards retirement earlier. Very complexes, their huge electric powered engines alllow fast and heavy commercial services up to 180 km/h.
