Advanced Mandate of Heaven
(former name: mod pack for east asia)

Some parts of "Warring States Period" and "Real East Asia" mod need Mandate of Heaven DLC. Even if you don’t have it, you can enjoy most of the mods, but the parts where the DLC is used may be not worked.

1. Costly Cavalry

Cavalry needs horses. Cavalry cannot exist without horses. But provinces that produce a lot of horses are limited, so maintaining cavalry in countries without enough horse-producing provinces is expensive.

The trade good ‘livestock’ is treated as representing war horses in this mod. To produce cavalry inexpensively, you need to occupy provinces whose trade good is livestock.

A country needs to have 1 livestock producing province per 100 total development. Insufficient livestock causes additional cavalry production costs. (+10% per 1 livestock province too few, up to 100%)

When you have 20 livestock provinces, all penalties are disabled regardless of your total development.

-Additional Information-
1. The disadvantages don’t apply to nomad nations.
2. Each military technology level counts as ⅓ of a livestock province.
3. Each nomad subject whose total development is more than 5% of the overlord’s total development counts as one unit of livestock. (up to 5)

2. Independent Vassal

“Independent Vassal” is a new subject type. They are more free than a usual vassal but not as free as a tributary state. (Degree of Freedom: Tributary State > Independent Vassal > Usual Vassal)

Independent Vassals:

1. Offer monthly tribute to their overlord,
2. Join their overlord’s wars,
3. Cannot be annexed, and
4. Have their own free diplomacy.

Independent Vassals can do most of the actions that usual independent countries can do; declare war, ally, etc.

Mongolia, Ajam, and Muscovy start as Independent Vassals in 1444.

3. Little Ice Age and Famine

Historical little ice age events can prevent states from being in prosperity forever. The events increase provinces’ devastation. The bigger the country, the more the events happen.

The Famine Disaster happens when 33% of country’s provinces have more than 3 devastation. It brings disadvantages to the country, but decreases devastation more quickly than usual.

4. Nomad Looting

This action is like Berber countries’ raid coasts. Every nomadic country can use Raid Frontier in the Economy Action tab.

The following countries can be target of Raid Frontier action.
-They aren’t nomads.
-They aren’t our ally.
-We don’t have truce with them.

The following provinces can be target of Raid Frontier action.
-The province has not been plundered for 3 years.
-There is at least 1 regiment of ours near the province.

When you used Raid Frontier action the following changes occur.
-Loot value of provinces plundered will be changed to 0 immediately.
-The country’s AE opinion malus towards us will be increased by the total development of provinces plundered.
-Our Horde Unity will be increased by 0.05% of the total development of provinces plundered.

5. Real Province Maintenance Cost

In middle ages, many areas like the arctic, desert, plateau are so barren that few people can live there. Some provinces were too poor and caused a lot of maintenance costs. But in EU4 every province only makes profit. I think that it is not correct. So I made this mod.

The following factors cause additional province maintenance cost:

-The province’s terrain or Winter is Severe Winter, Steppe, ‘Jungle & Tropical’, Desert, or Arctic.
-The both the province’s culture and religion are not accepted.

Provinces which meet all of the above conditions incur the following penalties:

Provinces of Territory -> +0.02 Corruption
Provinces of State -> +1000% State Maintenance Cost for the Province

The penalties can be decreased by country’s total development and administrative technology.
Administrative Technology Level 10 -> The penalties are decreased by 50%.
Administrative Technology Level 20 -> The penalties are decreased by 100%.

Total Development Less than 100 -> The penalties are decreased by 100%
100 ~ 200 Total Development -> The penalties are decreased by 90%
200 ~ 300 Total Development -> The penalties are decreased by 80%

700 ~ 800 Total Development -> The penalties are decreased by 30%
800 ~ 900 Total Development -> The penalties are decreased by 20%
900 ~ 1000 Total Development -> The penalties are decreased by 10%

The penalties for a country whose Administrative Technology Level is 12 and Total Development is 567: 25% (50% * 50%)
-Provinces of Territory -> +0.005 Corruption
-Provinces of State -> +250% State Maintenance Cost for the Province

6. Real Tributary State

The tributary state system in EU4 is too simple and monotonous. Tributary states in history were very dynamic. This mod uses trust value to show the overlord’s influence over tributary states. High trust value indicates strong influence. trust value is increased gradually over time, based on differences in national strength.

Overlord countries can consume trust value and use the following actions on their tributary states:

-Force to Join War: the tributary state is forced to join its suzerain state’s war for 3 years.
-Impeach Legitimacy: the tributary state’s legitimacy is reduced by its suzerain state.
-Condemn Publicly: the tributary state loses prestige.
-Raise Diplomacy Issue: the tributary state’s diplomacy is restricted for 5 years.
-Raise Trade Issue: the tributary state’s trade is restricted for 5 years.
-Deter War: Wars between the overlord’s tributary states are ended.
-Declare as Coalition Target: Make the suzerain state’s other tributary states join a coalition against the tributary state.

7. Warring State Period

Once china collapses in EU4, China tends not to be unified until the game’s end. Warring State Period is a simple mod which shortens the time of unification of china and increases the desire of Chinese countries to unify China.

When certain conditions are met in wars between chinese nations, provinces on the Chinese continent can be immediately annexed by an event.

-The Event Trigger
1. The celestial empire has ‘Warring State Period’ disaster.
2. Countries of Chinese culture group (or same culture group with the celestial empire) are fighting each other.
3. Provinces located on the Chinese continent are controlled by enemies.
4. The provinces are not capitals.

If any country snatchs the mandate of heaven from the celestial empire while the Warring State Period disaster exists, the country will inherit the disaster. The Warring State Period disaster can be removed only by the usual way.

8. The Invasion of Manchuria for the AI

This is a very simple mod for the AI, which makes AI Manchuria strong for a certain period of time when the country spawns.

9. Real East Asia
This mod adds some historical events in East Asia.
