NORTE/RENFE Ganz railcar (9155 Series)
On early 30s, Norte became interested on little diesel railcars for rural services. These little Ganz railcars were the first model ordered by Norte. They were made on Hungary and translated by pieces to Irún, where they were assembled and tested. They were named as WMD and got painted on red and cream livery. Finally they started servicing on the Madrid-Escorial line untill 1941.
After the creation of Renfe, these railcars, as all the DMU from former companies, were renamed as 9100 series. These Ex-Norte preserved their red/cream livery, and they recieved new electric tail lights. On mid-40s they were moved to Valencia region.
On mid 50s, the Ganz railcars were reformed, removing 2nd class, and replacing the original engine by a newer Pegaso one. Also they recieved a new silver and green livery, that renfe introduced to unify DMUs during 50s.
