Description:
Southern Railway Battle of Britain/West Country class Light Pacific 4-6-2

Southern Railway Merchant Navy class Pacific 4-6-2

So, about three (and a bit) years ago, while playing the first Transport Fever, I happened across a mod SteveM4 had made, which was a mesh edit of the vanilla Borsig engine to make it into a 4-4-0 that looked more like an early British engine.

I liked this mod. Like….a lot. But I didn’t like the firebox shape. And after a bit of mental back and forth, I figured I could tweak the mesh myself. So….I did. And I liked it so much I published it. And the feedback was so good that I decided to make some early carriages. And things kind of snowballed from there.

So, fast forward to today, and this mod. Which is both a bit of a…I guess gift to the community for helping kickstart it all, and a test to myself to see just how much I’ve learned in three years and just how good a model I can produce.

And, because I chose an engine that British Railways decided to rebuild into a completely different shape….I decided to model both variants.

So, yeah. Here’s a couple of Bulleid light pacifics. And now also some Merchant Navies as well.

I’d like to credit a few people – firstly, to SteveM4, who inspired me to start 3D modelling in the first place (and has continued to provide me with a *ton* of mods to enjoy over the years, check his stuff out). Also, the Transport Fever 2 UK discord for dealign with my screenshot dumps the last week or so >.> But also being a welcoming and helpful group when I pop in once every 6 months or so.

Also a big thank you to uzurpatorex for their Heusinger/Walschaerts Animation Tool mod, because Walschaerts drives are the devil and I animating one is a nightmare, and that tool helped a LOT.

Also a big thanks to anyone who has supported me with kind words or comments over the past three years. And to those of you who have chosen to send me money, I can’t thank you enough. These are rough times for everyone, and the generosity is so, so appreciated.

Features

-Air-smoothed Bulleid Light Pacific in SR Malachite, BR green, and BR blue liveries.
-Rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific in BR green and BR blue liveries.
-Air-smoothed Merchant Navy class Pacific in SR Malachite, BR Green, and BR blue liveries.
-Rebuilt Merchant Navy class Pacific in BR green and BR blue liveries.
-Full aging and recolour support (and even some shiny normal maps as well to give them that bit of extra dimension and sparkle!)
-Sorted in a single depot menu to reduce purchase menu clutter
-Reverse variants
-Small file size and .dds compressed textures, to help with load speed
-Lods to reduce GPU load – both meshes are around 60000 tries at closest distance, down to about 2000 tris at farthest zoom.
-Placeable rail assets (also with lods) allowing placement of the full engine, or just the tender or locomotive if you wish.
-like a stupid amount of detail for an engine compared to my previous mods (especially considering I’ve never even seen it in real life tbh)
