Description:

**Compatible with every mod including overhauls like SFO/Crynsos only for ME campaigns**

Update Five – End Times – 16/11/18

  • Reduced spawn rate to 5% per turn.

Update Four – Damn Pirates – 03/11/18

  • Top Subscriber Request – Human players will no longer lose a specific settlement when the AI spawns, they will mearly declare war on you (Functions as before for AI v AI).
  • Event Messages now have a VC event pic, no more Orcs!!!!

Update Three – A part of the Evil Rises Update 30/09/18

  • Slightly reduced spawn chances for balance purposes.

Update Two 17/09/18

  • When Vampire Counts spawn a new army the locals aren’t happy and start war with them (AI/Player)

Update One 13/09/18

  • Vampire Counts start at war with a nearby minor faction to their new random settlement
  • Reduced army spawn chance to 10%

This mod randomly assigns the Vampire Counts a settlement and an accompanying army in a new world location (Player/AI still retain their home region Castle Drakenhof). Every turn the settlemnt is in their possesion they have a small chance to spawn a powefull army somewhere in the world that has a greatly reduced upkeep cost. If they lose the settlement no new armies can spawn though if they retake the settlement they can once again regain this deathly gift.

Possible starting extra settlement

  • Deff Gorge – Southern Badlands
  • Shagrath – Naggaroth
  • Wellsprings of Eternity – Lustria

Info

Part of my "Old vs New" range of mods, these mods aim to increase the interaction between the New World and Old. As it stands the New World and Old World currently have very little interaction in the game, this mod changes that by giving the Vampire Counts a random settlement in the new world and while they hold this settlement the ability to spawn a powerful upkeep-free army somewhere in the world. This provides some degree of gameplay variety to all factions. As the settlements and subsequent army spawns are random this provides variety and replayability creating new challenges and oppurtunties for each campaign. Conflicts erupt that span the shores of the Warhammer world as friend and foe are dragged into distant wars.

Fluff

The Vampire Counts scouring the world for lost artifacts have stumbled across a simple stone tomb but beneath its illusive facade a terrible power has been unleashed. Dark magic capable of reanimating and sustaining hordes of the dead throughout the world. Only by losing possession of this dark place will the Midnight Aristocracy lose this deathly gift. Though what is lost can always be reclaimed.

Technical Info

This is a LUA script which is highly compatible with other mods as it runs separately to other mods. The script works basically by selecting one of several pre-determined scenarios and then making the necessary changes. The pack file name is SR_undeadspawn if you want to have a look or edit anything.

The Vampire Counts while owning the settlement have a around an 8% chance to spawn a new army. This mod has the effect of slowing the AI steamroll over the Empire as the Vampire Counts concentrate on their campaigns abroad, which I consider to be a bonus. When an army spawns for AI controlled Vampire Counts they gain an extra unit and a settlement, this helps them stick in their spawn location rather than dragging their army across the world back to Sylvania.

To Do
  • Change Event message pic from Orcs to Undead – Anyone know how to do this can only get ID101 (Orcs) & ID102 (Beastmen) to work
  • Tweaks and Balances – Please provide feedback in the comments
  • New mods to include other areas and factions to increase Old vs New interactions. – Provide suggestions in comments
  • Try to include Vlad and Tempelhof
  • Add experience to spawn armies – Anyone know how to do this?
