Series E531: Suburban-type train
The E531 Series was introduced to the rail line between Tokyo City and Fukushima Prefecture in 2005. Due to competition with other rail lines and highway buses, the maximum speed is a high 130 km/h. In addition, two double-decker highgrade cars are connected in the middle.
Eventually, it replaced all old trains in the Ibaraki and Fukushima areas. And in 2020, they were also increased due to the restoration of sections that were out of service, due to the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.
Series E531: Reproduction Aka-den specification
The cars (5 cars in 1 formation) of 1960s era train reproduction have been in operation since the fall of 2021 and will be in operation until around the spring of 2023.
