How to Install Mods for Total War: ROME II – Emperor Edition

HOW TO INSTALL MODS

Firstly, you need to navigate to Options -> Mods from the main menu, then make sure that Run “movie” and “release” pack mods and Run user script mods are enabled (restart the game to apply).

Install manually:
  1. Find the desired mod at this site and download it.
  2. Unpack the archive.
  3. Copy .pack (having .bin file instead?) file to

    %game_installation_folder%\data

  4. Create user.script.txt file (if not exists) in

    C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Rome2\scripts

  5. Add the next line to the user.script.txt file:

    mod “*modname*.pack”;

It is possible to avoid file editing routine with Total War Mod Manager by mitchwc. Just launch it after copying mod files and enable desired mods. Consider older versions if you have any compatibility issues.

Install via Steam:
  1. Find the desired mod at Total War: ROME II Workshop page.
  2. Visit mod’s page and click the Subscribe button (you should be logged in).
  3. Wait until files are downloaded (make sure your Steam app is running and has access to the Internet).

Mods are enabled automatically once you subscribe. You might want to use external tools for better control.
