Wendov, The Night Owl
Opportunistic combat focused character with an emphasis on kiting.

Wendov is a dhampir, one of the half-living children of vampires and humans. As such, he has some of the strengths and weaknessess of typical vampires, but not to such a harsh degree.
I made him after being dissatisfied with the vampire characters on the workshop when I first looked for one. They were too harsh in their penalties and too strong in their strengths. By shifting down to a dhampir instead of a fully-fledged vampire, it can keep the general playstyle but not to such a drastically game-altering degree.
His playstyle is intended to encourage opportunistic fighting with an emphasis on avoiding damage rather than tanking it. Think of him almost like Wendy in how you pick your fights in accordance to the time of day, but without as much tanking potential. You gain a damage boost at full health, encouraging evasion. His lifesteal is enough to heal you back to full if you’re actively avoiding damage while fighting, but it’s not significant enough to stand and brawl it out with a Deerclops.
Favours being in the dark
Has full darkvision at night and in caves if his sanity is at half or lower.
Sanity slowly drains during the day.
Sanity doesn’t drain during dusk, night, or in caves.
Damage is lower during day, normal during dusk and in caves, and higher at night.
Movement speed is lower during day, higher during dusk and in caves, and notably higher at night.
Speed penalty is reduced if wearing a Straw Hat/Eyebrella or holding an Umbrella/Pretty Parasol.
Can’t sleep during dusk or night, making Siesta Lean-tos the only method of sleeping.
Can’t heal by traditional methods
Can’t use regular healing items.
Spider Gland, Mosquito Sack, Healing Salve, Honey Poultice, and Booster Shot
Food only provides half of the regular healing value.
Human Blood, crafted by other players, restores some penalized max health.
Has a damage-based lifesteal effect that scales with time of day and sanity level.

Sanity drains at a rate of 3.75/min during the day, the same rate as Wendy’s drain during the night.
Sanity drain from negative auras and monsters is reduced by 25%.
Has a damage-based lifesteal effect that heals from 0%-5% of damage done depending on time of day and sanity level.
If health is penalized from dying, half of the regular lifesteal healing will be restored to maximum health if health is full.
Human Blood also restores 10 penalized max health.
Food only provides half the regular healing value.
Monster meat only does half of the regular health and sanity damage.
Hunger rate increases as sanity lowers, up to a 50% increase at 0 sanity.
Damage is 25% lower during day, normal during dusk and in caves, and 12.5% higher during night.
Damage is increased by 12.5% if health is full.
Movement speed is 25% slower during day, 12.5% faster during dusk and in caves, and 25% faster during night.
Speed penalty is reduced to 10% if wearing a Straw Hat or Eyebrella or holding an Umbrella or Pretty Parasol.
Has an additional 25% resistance to being frozen and takes an additional 25% fire damage.
Can’t sleep during dusk or night, making Siesta Lean-tos the only method of sleeping.
As a dhampir, batilisks see him as kin. They’re neutral towards him and won’t attack unless provoked.
Can craft and consume blood from raw meats. These heal, slightly sate hunger, damage sanity, and provide a damage buff for 30 seconds. Values of the healing, hunger sated, and sanity lost depend on the type and size of the blood. Other players can craft human blood at the cost of health if they’re near him, which is very potent.

By default,
Can craft items 1 science machine tier above normal if his sanity is above 50%.
Has full darkvision at night and in caves if his sanity is at 50% or lower.
Eyes change to a more vibrant red if darkvision can activate.

Full moons cause a rapid sanity drain effect.
Full moons double healing from blood and lifesteal and double hunger sated by blood.
Caves will inhibit full moon effects.
Darkvision and crafting bonuses can be toggled to be always active.
Sanity drain during full moons can be toggled off.
Doubled healing from full moons can be toggled off.
I died, and now my max health is reduced. I can’t use booster shots. What do I do?
Primarily, Wendov can restore penalized max health by healing from his lifesteal while at full health. Each attack while at full health will restore half of the health you would have healed as max health.
Alternatively, consuming Human Blood (crafted by other players when near Wendov) will also restore 10 penalized max health.
