Legacy of King Arthur is a mod for Crusader Kings 2 focused on the experience of playing a Celtic Briton and the popular mythos of King Arthur and his legendary blade Excalibur.
This mod began life as a personal project to enhance the experience of my favourite self-appointed CKII scenario: playing as a Welsh or Breton character and attempting to reclaim England and beyond from the Saxon invaders. The story of King Arthur is probably the most popular mythical story in England and his fight against the Saxons mirrors the fight I love to undertake in CKII centuries later.
I was inspired by the fantastic mods Excalibur by Nocix, Dragons of Camelot by General Runtime and Brythonic Restoration by iclemicle. As much as I enjoyed these mods I wanted something more narrative focused with more artifacts and unique decisions for those wishing to walk in the footsteps of King Arthur.
Reclaim Excalibur, the mythical sword of King Arthur! Rulers who are particularly kind and honourable, or perhaps just lucky, will be able to embark on an epic journey following the vision of an old priest who claimed to see a beautiful Lady emerging from a lake, resplendent sword in hand. You will face moral choices and a test of your character. Those who would wield the sword for justice and the good of Britain will be granted the privilege of wielding the legendary blade!
The start of the Excalibur quest chain is a rare event that can appear for Welsh or Breton rulers. The more virtuous your character, the more likely the event is to appear. At the end you might just receive Excalibur as an artifact for you treasury. You may take advantage of it’s powerful effects so long as you remain true to the honourable values of Arthur.

– Brittonic coronation event for forming the Empire level title.
– Utilising bloodline mechanics coming in Holy Fury DLC.
– Martial focused Round Table society for the most honourable warriors of Britannia
Compatibility :
Should work with anything that isn’t a total conversion. Probably not savegame compatible. I would recommend staring a new game to avoid save game corruption.
Ironman & Achievements :
The changes to event files means that unfortunately this mod is not Ironman compatible and thus no achievements can be earned while using this mod.
