Description:
Adds the Cultist of Brass Hero to Khorne Daemon and Valkia’s factions. Wielding an axe and shield like the default Cultist of Khorne, she is slightly more defensive, and comes with her own unique summoning abilities (Furies and Soul Grinders of Khorne).

Recruiting for Valkia REQUIRES MIXU’S UNLOCKER MOD, but the mod works for Skarbrand and the minor Khorne factions without it. I marked the mod as required so people would not mistakenly try to play Valkia without it, but nothing has changed: Mixu’s Unlocker is OPTIONAL if you do not need Valkia recruitment.

New!

The Brass Sisters are now included in a combined mod collection entitled Alshua’s Cultists. This permits Valkia recruitment without the use of Mixer.

Lore

There are three main types of Khorne cultist. The first is the warrior who comes to enjoy battle and killing too much, and begins to desire it for its own sake. The second is the mad killer, who you will meet in a future mod in this series. The third and most tragic is the normal person who becomes violent in order to survive a violent world, and finds themselves going much, much too far.

The Brass Sisters, found in the Warhammer Fantasy "Tome of Corruption" sourcebook, are this unfortunate third category of Khorne cultist. Residents of the far-flung outskirts of the Empire, their villages were ravaged by the merciless Marauders from the north, who put every man of fighting age to death, leaving only the women and a few children. Their families killed, their homes burned, they trusted their lives to Maegin, wife of their slain constable.

Maegin was well-trained in combat, and she taught the surviving women well. As word spread of their resistance to the Marauders, other survivors flocked to join them. But Maegin’s true vendetta was with the Empire, which had in her mind abandoned them to serve the interest of the corrupt nobility. Under the pretense of strengthening other villages by culling the weak, Maegin’s warband began assaulting their own countrymen. With every raid growing more barbaric, soon these "Brass Sisters," as they became known, were no better than the Marauders that had created them.

The Heroes in this mod represent strong champions of the Brass Sisters, who are on the same path as so many other corrupted warriors, seeking glory in the name of their dark god and hoping to be rewarded with his Mark.

Design

The Cultist of Brass has eight unique heads and four unique bodies. There was no muscular female unit to base them on, so I had to put together a muscular female body myself. I did not go in as hard on bodily variety here, but I tried to cover a wide range of hairstyles (as well as varying facial shape, eye color, etc). Those who like more conventional beauty and those who want rough, violent killers should both find something they like.

In addition, I added 68 female forenames and a few dozen themed last names, all used only by this unit. The Cultists of Brass will spawn with a mixture of "normal" women’s names, fearsome nicknames, and some more demonic-feeling names from the base game (intended to represent those who have chosen to go by Khornate names from now on).

Gameplay

This Hero unit is designed to appeal to those who value a balanced, vanilla-like experience. It is a close variant of the vanilla Cultist of Khorne, and they share a recruitment limit (so, this mod does not increase the total number of Heroes Khorne can recruit). The "Cultist of Brass" trades a very small amount of her offensive stats for equivalent amounts of defensive stats, creating a slightly tankier choice.

The Cultist of Khorne is renamed "Cultist of War," to distinguish him from his new sisters-in-arms. No other changes have been made to him.

For fun and variety, the Cultist of Brass can summon Chaos Furies of Khorne (instead of Bloodletters) and Soul Grinders of Khorne (instead of Bloodthirsters). Since these summons are both slightly weaker than the vanilla alternatives, they have been made easier to use: the Furies have no initial cooldown, and the Soul Grinder’s is reduced.

Thank-Yous

As always, huge appreciation goes to the RPFM team, and to Ole for the Asset Editor. I also want to make sure to thank prop joe for his console mod, that saves me enormous amounts of time while testing. Finally, I owe thanks to someone I’m not sure of, for a muscle texture I used but can’t find the origin of.
