Description:

Updated to 1.34.4. Please let me know if any bugs arise.

For EVEN CLEANER borders during migrations, I recommend using this mod that captures provinces around a fort. Credits to Virox and SatanChef. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1884376477

This mod is INTENDED to be more difficult than vanilla. Especially during the migration period and dark ages. You will struggle as Rome and Byzantium. That’s the point.

This mod now does so many things it’s hard to list them all. It ranges from bug fixes, new features and complete reworks.

My Less Plagues and Cultural Rework mods are now integrated into this one.

New bookmark to start at 2AD which also fixes the 6AD crash.

Barbarian migrations are completely overhauled. Much less border gore, much more historically plausible. Any barbarian OR nomad nation with a capital in Europe can now migrate (with special surprises for Dacians, Huns, Alans, Avars, Gepids, Hungarians and Bulgarians).

Rome’s government reforms have been reworked along with their modifiers like Pax Romana. Reforming into a republic now has a lot of juicy benefits but it is much harder to accomplish than vanilla.

Christianity will spread faster and more accurately. Banning Christianity is more effective.

Sallic Monarchies will have a fun time.. expect much more splitting of countries in the feudal age.

Government capacity is crippled in the early ages, peaking in the migration period. This is to reflect the breakdown of government structures that happened around the world at this time.

Ages are now tied to institutions. No more random countries popping up in 50AD to start late classical age early.

Rome actually conquers Britain and Dacia now but won’t conquer too much else (Pax Romana severely limits expansion).

Gameplay tips:

Parthia – Get rid of all Persian-culture nations, even if you have to attack your own subjects.

Rome – Either split the empire and play as Byzantium or vassalize/ally any border barbarians/nomads. Abandoning Britain temporarily might not be a bad idea, unlesss you have troops stationed there around 400 AD.

Barbarians – As the player, don’t expect to get all of Rome for free. Focus on what you think your tribe would historically take (Suebi in Iberia, Vandals in North Africa, etc).

General – Being big in the migration/feudal age doesn’t necessarily make you stronger. A country half your size might muster the same amount of troops as you.

Christianity – Expect it to spread fast in 200 AD unless you ban it.

Compatibility:

Compatible with Alternate Future Timeline for ET (you just won’t get extra building slots that this mod adds for some buildings).

Mostly compatible with 1.33 Complete Roman World [ET Sub Mod] – His mod overrides Roman decisions, Rome’s history file, division of Rome and spread of Christianity. Basically, you’ll have slower Christianity and a few minor differences if you use both mods together.

Other mods – I’ve added a compatibility bookmark that starts at 6 AD. My mod fixes the 6 AD crash from base Extended Timeline but playing before this date can break certain mods that run scripts. For your convenience, Feb 6 AD is the earliest date available to prevent these bugs and I recommend playing at this date if you run other mods.
