- 80 new countries, many available at the start of the game.
- 60 new provinces in Europe and in the Middle East.
- 8 new religions with their own mechanics.
- National ideas for the added countries.
- Mission trees for Western Roman Empire, Gallic Empire, Carthage, Piombino, Montferrat, Lovech, Trebizond.
- New government reforms.
- Many new cultures.
- Many new decisions.
- Many new events.
- New mechanics like the Roman Senate.
- Timeline extention to the year 9999 for players who prefer longer campaigns.
