The Imperial Japanese army was very late to adopt submachine guns,in fact,their prototypes and experiments on the Bergmann SIG 1920,which eventually led to the Type 100 as we know (the early version in fact) did not begin real deployment until 1939.The first version of the Type 100,developed in 1940,did not see combat until 1942,because the army was focusing it’s resources on the Type 99 machine gun.This gun,with some minor updates (removed bayonet lug and simpler to manufacture parts) begun mass production in 1944 (this is the version we made),with about 7500 units built.They were mainly used at the Philippines campaign and during the Okinawa invasion
